Automatic duty lookup is not available yet. Enter a duty rate or amount you have confirmed, for example with your customs broker, to get real results. The worked examples use example rates.
Landed cost per unit calculator
Enter each SKU in a shipment, the freight and other import costs, and the duty you have confirmed. You get landed cost per unit, contribution margin and the price that hits your target margin, SKU by SKU.
Everything is calculated in your browser. Purchase costs, prices and SKU names are never sent to our servers. A duty lookup sends only the HTS code, country of origin, customs value and entry date. What we store.

How landed cost is calculated
For each SKU, landed cost covers everything until the goods reach your US warehouse:
landed cost = purchase cost + duty + allocated freight + allocated other import costs
Landed cost per unit is that total divided by quantity. Contribution per unit is the net selling price minus sales fees, other per-unit selling costs and landed cost per unit. The price for a target margin is rounded up to the cent. Costs you do not enter here — advertising, returns, storage — are not included, so contribution is not net profit.
Splitting freight and other costs
Each cost is split separately, by quantity, purchase value, weight or volume. Splits are made in whole cents and always add back to the amount you entered. If you split by weight or volume, every SKU needs that value — a missing weight is never treated as zero.
Where duty comes from
- Duty rate: an ad valorem rate you have confirmed, applied to the customs value you enter.
- Duty amount: the figure from your customs broker or entry summary.
- Included: the supplier's price already includes duty (for example a DDP quote).
- Lookup: an automatic quote for the HTS code, origin and entry date, when available.
Customs value is left blank until you enter it or choose to use the purchase cost; the two are not always the same. Customs fees (MPF and HMF) are charged per entry, so add them once as an import cost. Read the full methodology.
Importing a CSV
Download the CSV template, fill in up to 10 rows and import it above. Rows with both a duty rate and a duty amount are rejected, and rows without either stay marked as “duty to confirm”.
